The 'Investor’s Guide to doing Business in Jamaica',
a JAMPRO publication, designed to help the prospective
investor to settle down in Jamaica, as quickly as possible.
In order to achieve this objective, the publication
is divided into seven sections for easy reference and
your convenience. Section one provides general information
about Jamaica; recent economic developments and the
reasons why the country is such an attractive investment
location. Meanwhile, sections two and three outline
the legal requirements of doing business and acquiring
commercial property in Jamaica; the various incentives
available and the kinds of assistance provided by JAMPRO.
Sections four, five and six give the investor specific
information about the country’s infrastructure
such as, transportation, water and electricity; labour
legislation, and labour market, as well as industrial
relations practices. They also provide details about
the country’s taxation policies; general duties
and international tax treaties to which it is a signatory.
Finally, section seven and the appendix cover all the
information related to living in Jamaica, while highlighting
the performance of selected macro economic indicators
during the period 1997-2002. We sincerely hope that
